Ronald
G. Lykins, President Ron Lykins, Inc. CPAs
A native of Adams
County Ohio, in the Appalachian Mountains, Dr. Ronald (Ron)
Lykins graduated from Morehead State University in 1964.
Ron had a dual major in Accounting and Economics-Sociology.
While at Morehead, he was President of the Student Council and
he lettered in tennis, track and cross country. Upon
graduating, he received a graduate assistantship from Ohio
University, where he traveled and studied in Europe and earned
his MBA in 1967.
After earning his MBA, Ron worked as an assistant to the
Executive Vice President at Ohio University for three years.
He acted as a team leader and liaison with Arthur Andersen &
Company for the design and implementation of a state of the art
computerized accounting system. After obtaining his Ph.D.
in Educational Administration from Ohio University in 1971, he
spent three years as associate director of management
improvement for the Ohio Board of Regents, working primarily in
the area of budgeting and financial systems.
While he was with the Ohio Board of Regents, he was an adjunct
professor in Accounting at Ohio State University.
Following this tenure in 1975, he was selected by Ohio Wesleyan
University as an Associate Professor in the Department of
Economics, where he taught accounting and finance for three
years. At the time, he was one of the youngest Associate
Professors in the history of Ohio Wesleyan University.
In 1978, Dr. Lykins formed his own Certified Public Accounting
firm in Westerville, Ohio. His firm specializes in
taxation and has rapidly grown into one of the top 20 accounting
firms in the Columbus metropolitan area with over 1,400 clients.
Ron Lykins Inc., CPA’s formed a business association with Smith
Barney in 2003 to facilitate the investment needs of their
clients. Recently Ron received national acclaim when he
represented his firm pro se before the United States Tax Court
and won his own case-- Ron Lykins, Inc., Petitioner V.
Commission of Internal Revenue, Respondent.
Concurrent with his role as the CEO of Ron Lykins, Inc., he has
continued his academic career. Ron was an adjunct lecturer
on taxation and accounting for the Capital University Executive
MBA program from 1978 to 1987. Following this time, he was
an adjunct professor of finance in the Executive MBA Program at
Ohio University for thirteen years. Dr. Lykins was
recognized by the business graduate students as one of the top
teaching professors in the MBA curriculum at both Capital
University and Ohio University.
Recent civic activities include President of the Board of
Trustees at Central College Presbyterian Church and VP for
Finance for the Westerville Civic Symphony. Currently, Ron
is chairman of a citizen’s advocacy group to defeat a 60% city
income tax increase in the City of Westerville.
Dr. Lykins resides in Westerville with his wife, Ruth, a speech
language pathologist. They have three children, Kurt,
Kristi, and Lisa, as well as seven grandchildren. Ron’s
hobbies include tennis, reading, gardening, and most of all,
playing with his grandchildren.
